Ohio River Bridge Progress - July 2006

Construction has progressed significantly on the Ohio River Bridge portion of the Corridor D project which will link West Virginia and Ohio. Bridge construction is already 43% complete and remains on target for a
September 2007 opening.

All of the coffer dams for the river piers are in place. 20 of 22 pier columns are completed and 6 of 11 piers are completely finished. The West Virginia access road is completed for construction and future maintenance. Work is nearly completed on the Ohio abutment. Erection of the arch structural steel has begun across the main channel of the Ohio River and should be completed by the end of the year. Erection of the structural steel for the West Virginia approach is expected to begin in the next few weeks. The structural steel will support the roadway or driving surface.
