Washington, WV— West Virginia Division of Highways, District Three, has announced a planned detour of WV 68 traffic traveling to and from the Lubeck area to allow for construction of a new overpass intersection bridge, according to George Shinsky, District Three construction engineer.

“A section of roadway on WV 68 between the traffic light at the junction of WV 892 (Dupont Road) and WV 95 will be closed so that the new overpass intersection bridge and connecting ramps with necessary drainage structures can be built,” Shinsky said.

“This is phase three of stage one of this construction project. There are five stages that will require shifts in traffic patters concerning the intersection(s) of WV 95, WV 892 and WV 68,” Shinsky added.

According to Chris Cooper, District Three project engineer, Bizzack, the prime contractor for this project, is scheduled to begin work on Wednesday, June 25, 2003, weather permitting, and construction activity will continue in this area until the project is completed.

“Traffic going north on WV 68 from the Lubeck area will be detoured onto WV 95 and then onto Marrtown Road CR9,” Cooper said. “An alternate route for traffic from the Lubeck area who may want to access the Dupont area would be to use WV 892 near James Country Store,” Shinsky added. “Traffic going south of WV 68 from Parkersburg to Lubeck will be required to exit using Marrtown Road CR 9 and utilize WV 95 back to WV 68 south,” Cooper said.

“Traffic wishing to utilize WV 68 from Parkersburg and from the Dupont area will still be able to travel straight through the intersection of WV 892 and WV 68 as in the past,” Cooper said. “Also, the traffic light in the intersection will still be utilized to allow travelers to access Island View Drive,” Cooper added.
